Invisalign is a revolutionary type of orthodontic treatment. It uses a series of removable aligners to improve the position of your teeth and jaw.
Invisalign aligners are made of SmartTrack®, an FDA-approved thermoplastic that does not contain metal or allergens. As a result, treatment is safe for pregnant women and people with allergies.
At Calm Spring Dental, we use Invisalign to correct various issues, including:
We also prescribe Invisalign treatment to people with abnormal bites, like crossbite, underbite, and overbite.
At Calm Spring Dental, Invisalign treatment begins with an in-office visit.
First, we review your dental records, ask about your goals, and conduct an oral exam. If we identify specific alignment issues, like crowded or crooked teeth, we move forward with treatment.
Treatment begins with a digital scan of your mouth with an intraoral scanner. Then, we upload the scans to a computer program that helps us create a custom orthodontic treatment plan. After finalizing the plan, we send your impressions to a nearby Invisalign lab. The lab uses your treatment plan to manufacture your first set of Invisalign aligners.
When the aligners are ready, you return to Calm Spring Dental. We have you try your aligners on and make adjustments to ensure a perfect fit.
Over the course of treatment, you visit the office every three weeks. At each checkup, we provide you with a new set of aligners that place slightly different pressure on your teeth and jaw.
Orthodontics with Invisalign typically takes between 12 and 18 months*, but it may take longer. To ensure a positive outcome, wear your aligners for 20-22 hours a day, only removing them to brush and floss or eat. We also recommend visiting Calm Spring Dental for each of your regularly scheduled checkups.
Invisalign aligners collect plaque, saliva, and food particles, so it is crucial you keep them clean. We recommend rinsing your aligners several times a day in cool tap water and brushing them with a soft-bristle toothbrush before going to bed.
